Vinted inventory management: SKUs, stock and profit tracking
Vinted tells you nothing about cost, profit or stock. Here's how serious sellers track SKUs, purchase prices and margins — from a simple spreadsheet to a live system.
· The Sellu Team
Vinted shows you a wardrobe and a balance. It doesn't know what an item cost you, where it's stored, how many you have left, or whether you're actually making money. The moment you move from "clearing my closet" to "reselling", that gap becomes the difference between a hobby and a business.
Here's how to close it, at three levels of effort.
Level 1: The spreadsheet
The minimum viable system is one sheet with a row per item:
| Column | Why |
|---|---|
| SKU (your own code) | Find the physical item when it sells |
| Title / description | Match it to the listing |
| Purchase price | The number Vinted never asks for |
| Listed price | Your ask |
| Sold price & date | Real revenue, real margin |
| Location (box/shelf) | "Bin 3" beats searching your whole flat |
| Quantity | For multiples and bundles |
Start it by exporting your wardrobe to CSV so you're not typing titles from scratch. The discipline that matters: log the purchase price the day you buy, not when it sells — nobody remembers what that jacket cost three months later.
The weakness is drift: the sheet only knows what you remember to tell it, and after a busy week it's fiction.
Level 2: Stock tracking that lives next to your listings
Sellu keeps inventory inside the same panel as your Vinted listings, which kills the drift problem: stock and listings stay linked.
- SKUs, quantities, locations and purchase prices on every item.
- Purchase price next to sold price — margin per item without a formula.
- Stock items link to their live listings, so you can see what's listed, what's sold, and what's sitting in a bin unlisted.
- Financials pull your orders in for bookkeeping, so revenue isn't a manual copy-paste either.
The free plan tracks up to 30 stock items — enough to find out whether the system sticks for you. Paid plans lift the cap (pricing).
Level 3: Automated restocking
If you sell multiples — basics, bundles, sourced stock — the killer feature is relisting the moment something sells, because an empty listing sells nothing. That's a background automation in Sellu: when a tracked item sells and you have quantity left, it can relist automatically. Off by default, like every Sellu automation; you switch on what you want.
The three numbers to actually watch
- Margin per item — sold price minus purchase price minus your postage/fees. Ruthlessly tells you which sourcing is working.
- Sell-through rate — of items listed 30+ days ago, what share sold? Under ~30% usually means prices are high or listings are stale (repost them).
- Dead stock value — purchase cost tied up in items unlisted or unsold for 60+ days. That's your money sitting in a bin.
A spreadsheet can compute all three. The hard part was always keeping the data fresh — which is exactly the part worth automating.
